RESOLUTION
Adopted by The Executive Board of I.B.T. Local 769
 
WHEREAS, On September 11th, 2001 the United States of America was ruthlessly attacked by terrorists in New York City, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania,
 
WHEREAS, the United Staes of America continues to receive terrorist attacks in the form of biological assaults on our citizens.
 
WHEREAS, the Officers, Executive Board and Members of Teamsters Local Union No. 769 recognize the serious and dire effects that such terrorist attacks may have on the people of the United States,
 
WHEREAS, the members of Local 769 who are working in the industries most affected by terrorist attacks intend to do everything in their power to continue working productively and not permit these heinous acts to disrupt their work or personal lives,
 
WHEREAS, the Employers of our members have the duty to take all reasonable and necessary steps to protect our members at work,
 
WHEREAS, such protective measures should include proper training for our members in recognizing and identifying materials targeted by terrorists, the purchase of appropriate safety equipment for use by management personnel in dealing with any harmful exposure to our members, and adequate insurance to cover our members and their families against any disease related to terrorism that is contracted on the job,
 
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Executive Board of Teamsters Local 769 and by the Members in attendance at the General Membership meeting on December 13, 2001 as follows:
 
1. Notice is hereby made to all Companies in the industries most affected by terrorist attacks that we expect our members to receive proper training in the recognition and identification of hazardous or biologically threatening materials;
 
2. We expect that said Companies shall provide appropriate safety equipment for use by management personnel for the protection of our members from said biologically threatening materials;
 
3. We expect that said Companies shall provide adequate insurance to cover our members and their families against any and all diseases related to terrorism that are contracted on the job.
